Who pays the most per expected total hours of work? At Boeing our base salaries are peanuts but we get paid (base rate + a lil more) for every 6 minutes of overtime. Other companies might pay more up front but expect more in return.

Our base are peanuts? How much do others pay? I’m at almost 180k base and none of my buddies in other aero companies make as much... of course, I don’t know where they lie along their spectrum. And yes, i never worked more than 40hrs a week in Boeing. Awesome work life balance. Work from home as needed... flex time as needed... great

What skill code/yoe/CoL?

Boeing aemg38 Nov 15, 2019

Depends on role

Can people from other companies provide base salary range? In Boeing, flight engineers which includes all systems gets paid max ~260k. That’s lvl 6 engr.

SpaceX can be competitive if you interview and perform well. I think their stock aspect is pretty great as well

Do anyone work 40 hours per week and check out in your view? I know some of my buddies work 60+ hrs and no ot paid in spacex. That could be just a small sample...

SpaceX ElonJack Nov 15, 2019

I'd say around 50 hours is fairly common. I haven't seen many work 60+, but some groups are just bad at prioritizing (useless meetings, unnecessary approvals, etc)

Not surprisingly PW pays there interns more 5 years ago than SpaceX does now. But even more surprisingly since threats from the labor Dept engineering interns at SpaceX are now hourly and make as much per hour as the average Sr. Engineer given the amount of unpaid over time salary engineers work at SpaceX

True story

Boeing wwxX40 Nov 15, 2019

I so far worked for Boeing/Northrop/Rockwell and got offers from BO and SpaceX. Boeing pays the best by a small margin when you just count for base pay. When you factor in 401k match, year end bonus, and OT (which often is not worked by employees with actual life outside of work) along with health care and education compensation, it's pretty competitive in aerospace. Note - pretty competitive in "aerospace". :-)

Rockwell Collins cscY72 Nov 16, 2019

What was the TC at Rockwell?

Boeing wwxX40 Nov 17, 2019

2008 - lvl 1 56k salary 3% bonus, 8% 401k 8k sign on 6k moving

It’s interest to me that people voted SpaceX as one of the highest paying. SpaceX typically pays much lower than other companies. I know a good amount of people who worked for SpaceX, went somewhere else and made a lot more and then went back to SpaceX and took a major pay cut. SpaceX “hopes” people want to work their so bad they’ll take a pay check for the coolness of the job.

Multiple colleagues have confirmed this to me.

SpaceX RUD 4u Dec 29, 2020

Worked at both PW and Spacex and they have equivalent salary but PW there was almost never uncompensated over time. Ever day at SpaceX is uncompensated over time. Hourly, SpaceX is probably the least compensation.

Do you get equity of SpaceX?

SpaceX RUD 4u Dec 30, 2020

Yes SpaceX gives non liquid RSUs and PW matches 401k and provides better benefits.. It roughly balances out on the non salary side.
