I had the worst interview experience with cloudflare. Was very surprised with the unprofessionalism specially from a company as big as cloudflare.

Had an interview for a presales engineer role, the pre-sales director reached out to me , from the 1st call , he decided to send me an exercise to do which was a bit weird since usually in pre-sales world they send the exercise when u r very close to be hired to not waste ur time or their time. Anyways, did the exercise in five days and submitted it and since then , they never reach out to me to give me any feedback. Reached out to this director twice with no response. Super unprofessional. I looked that director on linkedin and I see he spent 16 years in akamai and joined cloudflare 6 months ago. Just be aware when u get approached from cloudflare that it may end up waste of time. Worst experience I had in any interview process.

    What does working for 16y at Akamai say?
    And why are you acting as if this is new? Are you interviewing after a while? I bet most if not all have our share of such bad experiences and the lesson is to always consider them as one-off instances and move on. Consider them again if they pay well. Business as usual!

      Nope, am not interviewing after a while. I changed companies 3 times in the last 6 years. If its normal for you to be ignored after spending a whole weekend working on a long exercise, its not normal for me . Never happened before to me. Happened to me before that a recruiter ignore me after 1st conversation, not nice but doesnt hurt. But when I spend a weekend away from my family working on an exercise, I expect at least some a reply to my email when I submit the exercise.

  • They wasted my time with back to back interviews and 2 folks didn’t join the teams. After that I didn’t respond to recruiter to reschedule. They low ball too. Good for you OP.

      Good to know. I wanted to ask about the salary before starting the exercise but honestly I like their product so I took it as a challenge this exercise.

    Just a stat point - I interviewed for a Software Engineer role last week and had a great experience. No issues/delays/unprofessionalism at all, the on-site interviews were slightly challenging but I felt I was judged very fairly for the role.

      Well, one good experience doesnt mean its a great company. Read blind reviews and read the awful blogs online.

    • I agree, also had a great interview experience. Don’t understand the ghosting or terrible reviews. People just have to follow up. I’ve had much worse experiences interviewing w other firms. Maybe the bar is low for recruiting but Cloudflare raised it for me.

  • Their recruiting process is waste of time, ghosted after virtual onsite loop. Seems like they don’t care about the candidates.
