I haven’t done shit today!
I applied to Facebook and Airbnb by referrals, and both got rejected. FB claims only hire 5 yoe engineer and Airbnb claims 6 years.... Friends also told me Google is also slowing.. The tech market is cooling? Edit: applying for backend role. (Feel too many backend engineers on the market) yoe: 3
Well I don’t think so. I’ve seen people with 2 YoE getting hired by these companies. But then again, I’ve seen cases where FB said they are not hiring folks with less than 5 YoE and so did Airbnb. I also noticed the the wait time for team matching at Google for L3 positions increased as a friend of mine is still waiting in team matching. Perhaps folks from these companies could provide better information.
My friends get in all mobile folks.
My experience about this is from my knowledge obtained from people I know. That’s not holistic view in general. I’ve tried interviewing with Portal at FB and they said I do not have enough experience. My YoE is 2.5. But it wouldn’t be the case with all teams I suppose.
Yes, hiring for non-senior engineers seems to have almost halted based my conversations with recruiters and on multiple rumors.
They typically join as a new grad and get promoted
New grads are not leaving . It’s all based demand and supply . At those companies attrition is not high.
I have this feeling too. People are not leaving.
I think attrition is part of why they don't want to hire NCGs. Why would a manager with headcount ask for an L3 if they will just bounce in 2 years?
TC or GTFO
We just hired a fuckton of people
FB NY hired too many Junior engineers last year and had to borrow from this year's quota, all they are only hiring senior engineers. Even as a returning intern it's really difficult to get NYC office according to my recruiter.
What about other location? Bay and Seattle? Btw., want to know salary difference in NY!
Actually I have fb interviewing onsite coming up with little under 3yoe.
We are still hiring and lot of people joining every week.
I guess it depends on your bg
