Why are Amazonians so tough about hiring and make it difficult? It's unnecessary since people here are not that better than other companies. I don't get it.
To raise the bar
it’s just testing the wrong thing, we have a ton of false positives too
Amazon hiring is difficult? Word on the street is Amazon is easiest to get in, specially at lower levels. And new grad hiring is a joke
Amazon raises the bar not only at hiring end, but also on firing end.
Those seem like conflicting statements. Are you saying the interviews are harder than other places, but people who make it through are not better?
I'm saying both the interview is harder, and on top of that, folks who aren't any better add an extra dimension to the difficulty.
Doesn't seem like those can both be true. How do you determine they're harder if less-capable people still pass? I'm not being pedantic, really trying to understand the question being asked.
My Amazon interview was much easier than my Google interview. Amazon prefers to hire aggressively / fire aggressively.
Google is also has odd hiring process as candidate usually has no idea where they will work. So during the interview process at Google candidate has to clear much more questions which may or may not be related to the future job. Puts unnecessary stress on the candidate imho.
It really depends on the team and individuals interview style I think.. despite strong technical knowledge, you also need lots of luck :)
Amazon hiring is harder than msft, way easier than google facebook. About same as apple.
