Hiring commitee decisions are not based on interview feedback?

interviewd with google. Recruiter told me i have received positive feedback from all interviewers. asked me about my expected salary and told that next week she will present my packet across hiring committee. next week i received rejection. i am unable to understand the rejection if interview feedback is positive

Because the bar isn't good feedback, it's a bit higher than that. Interviewers are asked to give a range from absolute no hire to absolute hire. If you got a weak positive hire from everyone, that's not going to cut it. You need at least one or two strong advocates out of the panel.

The idea is to eliminate false positives. If everyone just thinks "good" but nobody was wowed, you're a borderline candidate in their eyes.

Not a fool-proof system by any means.. but they say they'd rather reject good candidates than accidentally hire bad ones

@Apple - great points. Also, show that get the nuances around answer and if there are trade-offs involved mention that they exist and ask your interviewer if they're interested in you breaking them down.

Also, you're going to need some luck. Almost everyone I've talked to who was hired is really glad they don't have to interview again. We all know that even if you have everything they're looking for, you still have to roll a 20 on HC.

Well, you did a good job on all, you didn't do a great job on any. When HC looked at your profile and compared it with the level, your were not suitable for that level, probably good for a lower level. If there is no job role at lower level, then it's a rejection.

Sorry about this. Good luck next time

Really during all my interactions with google they have mostly come across as super arrogant. I feel like it is not that nice of a place to work for anymore; lots of pretentious nerds that feel they cant do wrong because they work at goog.
