Hiring freeze for ML @ Uber ?
Is there a hiring freeze for ML roles @ Uber. I cleared my screen and I am invited onsite. When I asked recruiter what team I will interview for she said makertplace as there are no openings in other teams for Software engineer ML. Before interviewing for Market place I would like to know what work other teams are doing? Any help here
Can confirm. Team changes are easy now. Managers can no longer block transfers
What’s the usual period one can asks for team transfer? Also my original question : is there a hiring freeze for other teams or is the recruiter just playing smart
I know the recruiter on Marketplace. He couldn’t care any less where you interview, however he can only place you where there is headcount. No other orgs have headcount for ML but Marketplace. Even that is going to probably get clamped down in the next month as headcount is going to be lower.
Isn't marketplace one if the best org at Uber?
Was the screen ML related or typical SWE problems e.g. leetcode?
It was 70 mins. 30-40 mins ML and rest medium leet code

No, there’s no freeze on ML roles and lots of team are hiring ML like ATG, Maps, and Risk. Check the career site for open roles.

Once you are in, you can change teams fairly easily.
Not true - most senior managers are aholes in Uber they will screw you , join what you like - otherwise you will be fcuked with uber first policy - you are joining as a slave in Uber - if you are joining for interests then you are a misfit for Uber
That may have been the case during TK’s time, not so much in DK’s era. Just about everyone I know in Uber has changed teams over the past few months.
