Hiring managers, how should I frame my experience?

I'm a self taught designer (mostly brand) with 10 yoe in the tech industry (3 startups, series B, C and IPO). I fell in love with programming a couple of years ago and just completed a CS degree (online). I didn't have the opportunity to go to college when I was younger and so it was something I really wanted to do regardless of whether I need it to become a software engineer.

I'm currently on the LC grind and my eventual goal is FAANG (or similar).

I'm curious how hiring managers might view my past experience and would appreciate any advice on how I should talk about it.

I would be targeting new graduate/L3/SDE1 positions.

TC: 197.5k (designer)
YOE: 10

I lack production engineering experience. I think I would rather under promise and over deliver. I'm not worried about TC at this point.

Nobody cares about your background as long as you can clear the interviews.

That's my general feeling, and I don't expect any special treatment based on my past experience.

Nice job @turbro. I guess you will do pretty well. They might lowball you but that should be fine given most of your experience is as a designer.

Thanks! I'm not worried about TC at this point as I know it will come with time and experience, and it will be vastly more than I can ever make as a designer.
