Really apprecaite the help as we are both new to area. we both moved from different states.#housing #sanfrancisco

So if you are willing to take Caltrain I can give you a few pointers.
1. Find a station where bullet train stops. In South Bay that would be Sunnyvale, mountain view, Palo Alto.
2. Further up north you go, your committee time will drop. But so will your chances to get a seat.
3. Commute itself is not bad if you get a seat. Which you'll if you start from snv/mv/pa. Caltrain is not as crazy as Bart. But has free problems:
1. Caltrain, specially bullet, has very poor frequency. Which means you lose flexibility. If you've to catch an 8:05 from mv, you've to catch it.
2. Parking is a bit of pain. For example to catch 8:05 I be there at mv at 7:45. Otherwise I won't get parking.
3. On avg once in a month there will be interruptions. Like a stupid car will hot the train. And then you'll be stuck for an hour or so. I thought these occurrences will be rare. But sadly that's not the case :-(.
4. Caltrain doesn't go into the city. So factor your second hop into account. Fortunately I don't have a second hop. Pinterest is like a block away.
