Hi Blind community,

I am leaving IBM soon. Can you all tell me the holiday encashment rules at IBM? I know that PTOs lapse at the end of the year. So, I can encash the unused PTOs accrued till now for only this year. What about sick days (I see some 112 hrs on workday which is max accrued) and what about PCH (5 personal choice holidays)? Anyone who has gone through this can guide me?

TIA.

When you send in the separation request your manager should ask you:
    1. How many PTO days did you take this year
    2. How many PTO days did you take last year

I took all my PTO last year so idk why they ask that / if they pay out. Sick days don't get paid out. Personal choice holidays don't get paid out so "take" those first.

    Ask your manager
I got paid for the sick/PTO days when I got laid off
My manager was kind enough to put that for me as part of the last paycheck
I don’t know what my manager did, but I got paid for those days, also I am in California if location matters to be eligible to be paid for unused days

Also reminder that you will not get your 401k match since you will have left before dec 15th so make adjustments there if you need. I ramped down my 401k contribution during the last few months of IBM to make sure I could take advantage of the full match at the next employer before hitting the $19.5k max

Sick days are usually not paid on resignation, so use them while you can.
