Hi all. I wanted to ask how Apple handles / allows employees to work from home. Is this usually allowed or something that is considered outstanding treatment?
Do you mean occasional “WFH around dentist appointment”, or permanently working remote from home? The second option is rare and requires approval from skip-level manager (maybe even higher up) so it must be important for the business. The first option is very common.
I meant rather occasional wfh. Say one day a week
One day a week is a bit more than occasional. “WFH Fridays” are a thing, but it’s usually not every Friday. It also depends on the team - teams vary a lot at Apple due to siloing. You should make arrangements with the hiring manager. That said, I commute from SF Mission daily (except WFH 1-2 times a month) and it’s not an issue.
Yep, I do WFH occasionally because I have a long commute and sometimes the need to handle personal appointment or stuff like that (1-2day per month ?). But I do not know anybody working from home permanently.
When I asked my manager about wfh one day a week he just rolled his eyes- pretty much saying no. Wanted to see what other people negotiated.
Allowed to work from anywhere so long as you can meet or exceed your commitments
