Trying to buy a used car around $15000. I don’t find Honda Accord hybrid in that range. But I do find Honda Accord sedan. I also find Ford Fusion hybrid in that range. People say Honda is a better brand. But wht are the pros and cons of Honda Accord and Ford Fusion Hybrid?
Buy a Ford fusion and immediately find cheap plastics inside. 50k miles and you're fucked.
Lol
I drive an older Accord with a cool 130k miles on it. Good mileage, runs smooth, and never gives me trouble (I give it reasonably regular oil changes, and often drive it for 200+ miles at a time). I've heard that some of the newest model years might not be quite as solid, but the Accord is a great car overall as long as you buy a good year.
Can you tell me what good years are? Does 2015 - 2017 sound good?
I honestly don't know off the top of my head, but I'd check Consumer Reports for whatever model year you end up considering just to be sure.
Honda Accord, no-brainer. Ford cancels all cars, will made trucks only (and mustangs). The only more or less reliable Ford is F150(they were perfecting it for years) everything else is garbage. Resale value of Fords is also much lower than Hondas(kbb). For 15k you can get a decent accord, better interior quality, a more reliable car than fusion. Also hybrids are more complex and less reliable than gasoline ones(Toyota Prius is maybe an exception). Also make sure trusted mechanic inspects your used car of choice before buying it. I heard 2012 accords are pretty good.
2012 accords have 100k miles on them and I am afraid they start needing lot of repairs.
It depends, if it was 100k mostly on a highway you can squeeze out another 50k-100k problem free(while only changing oil and filters). That is why you need a good mechanic to inspect car before purchase. I have a friend who has 2005 civic and 250k mostly highway miles on it, still runs like clockwork (he only changes oils and filters). And you can buy such car for 3k :) You can also find 2012 accord with 50k.
Honda's are sh!t of late. Too many issues on their transmissions. If I was on a budget, I'd go with a Hyundai or KIA over Honda.
Any particular models in Kyundai or Kia?
Stay away from KIA or Hyundai... Stay away from Korean cars...
Nothing beats a used Toyota Corolla on a budget
Crown Vic from govt auction is a solid budget car, and you get to freak out 30+ y/o thinking you might be a cop
True
Why are you paying 15k for used car? (For trucks makes sense).. A brand new 2019 Toyota Corolla/Camry is <25k....consider warranty of a new car resale value of a trusted brand and model. I take a Camry/Corolla at 150k miles anyday.
Don’t you think they start needing lot of maintenance at 150k miles?
You probably wont maintain engine transmission tho. Other parts sure.
Do you know what car is one of the most stolen car in us? Its Toyota Camry. Do you know why? Because people are still driving 2000 models and they need parts....they still them and then they go to chop house for parts that r sold premium. Corolla at 150k is a teenager. The engine has long life.
Neither. If you want consistent long term reliability, only get Toyotas and Lexuses. They last well into a couple hundred thousand miles with no issues.
Uber guy would know.
Yup, Toyotas are as dull as dishwasher but they will run forever.
Based on comments, it looks Toyota Camry with 100k miles is the way to go. I can get it for around $10k - $12k and it runs at least for the next 8 years. I can live with that!

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
No contest. Honda. Consumer reports.
Maybe Consumer reports from 1999. Honda's of late are simply not what they were in the 90s and 2000s. https://www.torquenews.com/1084/highly-reliable-honda-drops-consumer-reports-reliability-survey
Now compare to Ford. No contest.
