Hey guys, I feel like I used to be infinitely smarter, more focused, and on the ball. The last few years I've noticed a very scary short term memory problem. I can't even remember having said things or heard things in the prior week. Often times my co-workers say "you told me this yesterday". My ability and even desire to focus is near non-existent. I've mentioned this to my doctor's and they don't seem to have helpful input. They say that even early onset dementia is impossible at my age ( < 30). I know this is outside of the realm of normal topics for blind, but I have to imagine someone here has gone through something similar. Any thoughts or anything you can share that helped you kick this?
How much sleep are you getting? This sounds like burnout
Too much. I want to crash the second I step in the door from work and sleep through until the morning. I still don't feel like I ever get enough. Work is pretty easy. I'm not working a whole ton. Projects are easy and not very demanding. Though generally not interested or motivated in this field like I once was way back when.
Sounds like depression to me
Anxiety and or depression issues can definitely cause this
Schizophrenia is common starting at your age
Do you work out?
Nope. Though I'm in good shape.
Uhhh you sure about that? Being skinny does not mean you’re in “good shape”
Probably you are going through with a depression, do get diagnosed for this. And do you smoke up?
I'm seconding this only because I ended up going to the ER over similar issues for it to turn up as sever depression. Also seconding the smoking up.. definitely can effect short term memory temporarily but overall can help clear your head and keep you focused!
Is that really true? I've always found that smoking weed dulls my mind for a day or so. And I always oversleep after I smoke. It can be nice in the right circumstances but "helps keep you focused" seems like a stretch.
So go get your T checked. Low T is a cause of foggy memory and just not being happy. As well as losing lead in your pencil. Go get checked for low testosterone and if you're low, get on a testosterone therapy regimen.
Working out also boosts your testosterone. Definitely a better option unless you're actually clinically deficient.
“Lead in your pencil”...ha!
Brain fog is a very common symptom of anxiety, also the fact that you mention your fear and having gone to multiple? Doctors I feel like you could have anxiety.
My multiple doctors are for other health issues, unfortunately. I do tend to have some mild OCD. But how does this differ from "anxiety"? Sorry if this is a stupid question. No co2 detector in my place from what I can tell, but have lived in multiple places since this started.
Not co2 CO, carbon monoxide get a detector. Also anxiety is excessive worry about future events and combined with OCD can cause you to get stuck on them. Google it, anxiety can cause many symptoms, hot flashes cold flashes fast heart rate sleep issues diet issues memory issues vision problems etc etc just read about it
Also do you have a CO monitor in your home?
Saw you say that you feel that you can ever get enough sleep. That was/is me. Get tested for sleep apnea.
Interesting. This runs in my family. Did you have any of the other symptoms I mentioned?
Yea, I definitely did and it was taking a huge toll on my productivity.
stress and fatigue will do this to a person. possible?
