What does the future hold for Hortonworks, Cloudera , and MapR?
Lots of competition from Cloud big data offerings but not everyone wants to move to cloud and these companies have cloud offerings as well
When you say “bundling”, what do you mean? Because today, anyone can take an HDFS distro and stitch Spark jobs and Kafka brokers together.
"Bundling" here means that the vendors are including these components in their distro, contributing upstream to them, and supporting them.
Cloudera is just a Hadoop vendor. Mapr offers a lot more, like dB, streams, and file system all on one cluster. Mapr file system is posix too, so you can install anything you want (eg tensorflow) and still benefit from distributed high availability. Mapr also works with docker and kubernetes. I think mapr will out last the other two Hadoop vendors.
Will it now?

Hadoop is still selling. And most of these companies and bundling new products like Kafka and Spark on top of their offerings. So I say they have a future.
