How USCIS use social media info for VISA?

This is annoying because it’s interfere the privacy! And I can’t imagine this could happen in US, which claims itself as country with freedom of speech. But curious practically how this would work? I gave USCIS the name of my Facebook, reddit, YouTube. Then what will they do? I can only think that they’ll search the username in Google and nothing more. If I delete or lock my posts to protect my privacy, they won’t see anything. So would they have some fancy hidden technology to track our privacy? Also are we required to submit all social media accounts? Omg I myself even can’t remember exactly how many app or accounts I created before. What a silly policy.

Why so much love for social accounts? Delete them. Create new after immigrating.

If USCIS or FBI could track all your previous account, then useless to delete

In that case, it makes sense to see the posts. That implies what you think. This can't be avoided either in anyway.

If you post on social media, whatever you posted is not private. + no one is under any mandatory obligation to engage in social media. I’d be with you if you made a freedom of speech argument.

yes agree. But now if I reset those posts as “private” or “locked”, then USCIS won’t see anything. And if everyone does the same, USCIS will not get any info from simply the social media username. Then what’s the point of this new policy?

You’re a fool to think that a deleted account will stop the US government. Ever heard of Internet archives? Also, if you plan to enter the country - the US has already tapped your phone and has recordings on tape.

Who told what accounts they want?

Do not use social media, at least do not use under your real name (except Linkedin)

You’re not a citizen. You don’t automatically have a right to the first amendment.

Question: US amendments do not apply to non-citizens? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_amendments_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Nope

Good initiative. IF YOU DON’T AGREE PLEASE DON’T APPLY FOR A US VISA.

At least now they are asking openly.
