How can I pivot my career into SWE or DS?

I’m currently working in data analytics but not sure if I want to take the manager path or into an IC. I have the ability to code in a couple languages (more suited for DS) but wondering if I should go full on statistics and try to break in or do leetcode like everyone else says to do. Both will give me similar levels of job satisfaction, but wondering what’s easier to break in.

You're going to be able to earn more money in people management. And it's you're good at it, why not?
    If you're hesitant, don't lead.

That's fair... But too often our managers don't think like this, so again I say lead. We don't have enough leaders in tech that don't exclusively think of themselves.

Once I feel comfortable, I would love to develop into an official leader

SWE is a safer, longer term career than Data Scientist. SWE is harder to get into. Ten years from now, only the ML research scientist /applied scientist DS people will be well paid.

Yes. SWE is harder to get in, compared to DS.

I put out some resume feelers to see how competitive I am. Did some peer code today and seems interesting.

I think I’m above average as an analyst vs my peers but that may not be enough for me at current stage. I realize I need to learn and practice more skills, but would like to focus on one thing. Also been told people skills are my best trait which I hope helps.
