Really frustrated by this. Curious how normal people can get access. Down to also hack on something if anyone is interested!

Jane Street literally does not take outside money because it is a prop shop. If you want to invest somewhere like Citadel you need $$$.

  • It's not just about meeting investment minimums. Any fund that is good is going to be closed to new investors. The quant strategies all have capital limits beyond which they won't scale so they're not interested in more investors -- they have all the capital they need. So, if you want in, you need to bring something other than just money to the table.

The average person does not have enough investment capital to meet minimums for hedge funds etc. The average person is also too dumb to get hired at Jane Street. Thus the average person is excluded from JS.

Could an average person pool with other average persons so they meet those minimums?

    • Honestly, you won’t succeed in doing this. You also won’t be able to invest directly either. If you really want to invest, go to the financial advisor at major banks or Artivest or something similar. They may be able to get you into these investments, but they will charge an additional fee on top of the already high fees these vehicles charge.

Jane Street is a proprietary trading firm they have no outside money whatsoever.

If you mean quant hedge funds like Two Sigma then you'd need to be wealthy enough to a) meet the minimums and b) have an in with their IR team. There are some quant AM firms that have retail funds I believe.
