Chinese people are ruthless to each other when it comes to weight gain, so they are pressured to lose weight just from that alone.

Also, in general Indian diet is pretty unhealthy which makes it more difficult for Indians to lose weight.

Yes we are used to eating lot of carbs from childhood and being a vegetarian makes it worse

+1.. Chinese moms/grandmas are also ruthless when it comes to fat-shaming their younger generation

I have seen indians who don't gain much but gain a LOT right after pregnancy during nursing and they never get back to shape.

That’s not pregnancy weight then. Most likely caused by lifestyle change and should be more easily addressable if you stick to your pre-pregnancy lifestyle, in terms of diet and level of physical activity. If one sticks to their pregnancy diet, post-pregnancy, of course they will gain weight rapidly and as people age (that’s anyone, not just women) losing weight becomes harder. So it’s important not to let oneself go.

Did you have flat abs before? Stop creating unrealistic expectations. When you have a child sleep will be at a premium your stress levels will be higher and your body will need to heal. You should be happy if you feel sane.

You can look at anyone’s body and guess what his plate looks like. There is no secret to it. Once you are done breastfeeding eat less (and if possible workout).
Having a baby is pretty hard on your lifestyle. Ppl might eat out a lot and workout less. Indian street food is the worst

Abs are made in the kitchen not at the gym !
Use portion control and an app like myfitnesspal and count calories ...you wi'll be surprised how Carby Indian food is. workout should be a lifestyle ....breastfeeding helps with weightloss,

Talk to a nutritionist and get a good breakdown of your macros goals ... unfortunately genetics has a huge part to play ...but you can fight it! ...congrats on the baby !!!

Eh my medical friends say that you can lose weight breastfeeding. That economist also said that drinking wine is OK during pregnancy because there haven’t been any conclusive studies done not realizing you cannot have conclusive studies when it involves babies. The person is beyond naive. I don’t think they understood what those statistics meant.

  • I gained MASSIVE weight after giving birth. I have always been on heavier side to the point I felt depressed but this was on whole another level and then I lost 40 pounds and nobody could believe it was me not even me!! So I can say this with some authenticity. Please hear my journey.

I had a tough delivery. It lasted long and took some toll on my body . After giving birth, with some difficulty I stared breast feeding. First week was terrible but it became easier. After that beast feeding happened like a charm. 6 months I fed and I did not gain much weight but as soon as I stopped it was insane. By next year I was 80 kg. I ate roti rice sabji and everything that comes in carb but also vegetable rich Indian diet and then I went into a dark place.. it was when I saw one of my picture.. I had terrible posture and big ponch and decided that was it. From here I want to give this disclaimer.. I am no expert or capable of giving any medical advice but this is just what worked for me.

I started keto and enrolled with a personal trainer. I did it religiously and worked out dedicatedly. I did not eat any red meat or unhealthy processed food or meat. If was mainly Indian sabjis and choose ones low in carb with cawliflower rice. Absolutely no roti or rice and no snacking. Within 6 months I felt like I was reborn.

Now here is my take. Giving birth is a huge physical change for us. Our genes are different our diet is different. Our body types, hair, skin, metabolism are different based on centuries of evolution and geography so please don’t feel bogged down by physiques that are way different from us be it Chinese or Europeans. After giving birth give yourself a break. Your child absolutely needs you. If you decide to breast feed that itself is going to make you exhausted. Take it slow. Take care of yourself and your baby. When you feel slightly recovered start light excersises. After a few months once you feel a bit independent and your baby starts solids then go full in. Give up unhealthy snacking and change your lifestyle. Something like keto helped me give up processed foods and snacking completely. Once you start working out and healthy diet give it some time. Keep in mind weight loss is not magic. Give yourself a good six months and enjoy the journey. I wish you the best! Remember it is your body and you know what is best for you! Wish you the very best!

Awesome! You are a super mom - all moms are BTW. I think you learnt the havoc an unbridled carb consumption can cause. Best wishes to you and your family.

Such an inspirational and informative reply. ❤️ Thank you so much for the post
Everything you said makes sense I just remembered giving up on indian rice roti sugar and milk in 2014 and losing weight in 3 months it was such a huge change I have never gained back that much weight. I will revisit this post later and follow it. You are right this is the secret to losing weight.

It's not genetics. It's diet. Fat Asians exist. Don't inhale shitty food. Chinese even have a 30 day post maternity diet, with meal deliveries to support it in the Bay Area.

They don't get it for free. It takes dietary discipline.

Not quite. Meat is really important in Chinese culture.

To be clear: the 30 day diet food doesn't taste good. That's the discipline. It's considered healthy, and health > flavor.

Google Kareena kapoors pictures before and after pregnancy if she can you can except that nobody wants to eat the good diet sleep 8-10 hours and drink a lots of water and workout. If she can do this you can.

I looked her up, looks like she is an actress. They are often rich (probably means round the clock care and private trainers) and their chief job is their looks! They have a very different lifestyle. So not really a realistic role model.

Do you really think only money can buy that body ahahaha come to New York or Los Angeles

    • Microsoft Queasy
No but it certainly can help. If you have someone taking care of your kids, someone doing your grocery shopping and your cooking to ensure highest quality and you have a private gym with a trainer it leaves you with plenty of time and energy. If you are working 9-5 seated looking at a monitor, have two hours commute on top of that and have to take care of the kids yourself, do your shopping, cleaning, grocery shopping, and cooking you won’t have as much time and energy left in a day to work on your figure!
