Pichai’s job is to avoid saying or doing anything that would offend anyone. Not sure I would call that vision.
A 78% approval rating isn't so bad
I m so happy these "news outlets" are having to do massive layoffs.
The weirdest takeaway is that Googlers think they're underpaid. But like compared to who? Facebook?
There was a survey some time back. Lot of folks join Google for the prestige etc. They get very normal hikes or even no increase in some cases.
I like Sundar, though it seems like the culture now is prone to never ending outrage mode. I get the sense this is because people have come to expect it to be some type of utopia, but as we've scaled to 100k diverse employees from all walks of life, you really just can't satisfy everyone without just going to the middle on every issue, in which case no one is happy. I chalk this up as mostly sensationalism, and I'd say all this "employee dissatisfaction" you read about is really just an exercise in reminding leadership we have high expectations of them. I think people are for the most part satisfied. There's not many other places people at Google would rather work.
People go in expecting it to be a liberal college atmosphere. A natural extension of the academic atmosphere, but with a private sector salary.
Fb and google need to do more around handling leakers
Doesn’t matter. Good pay at Google.
