Does an expired work visa automatically terminate employment with the company? And how would this impact RSUs that take longer to vest than the visa permits one to work in the country? -Sorry if these are dumb Q's, I have never worked abroad.
Your company keeps a track of when your visa expires. If they don’t get a new visa, you lose the job and in effect lose unvested RSU/
This
“Work permit/auth” not visa. Visa is only to enter a country.
RSU’s expire once the employee- employer relationship is terminated for whatever reason.
If you lose your US work authorization you can relocate to an Amazon office in Canada and your RSU's will be unaffected. Coincidentally, I have 10 open positions at an engineering center in Canada. PM welcome :)

You would no longer be working in the company if your work permit expired. And you would no longer be getting RSUs bested is you no longer work there
