Checking the next week weather in Austin, it looks like a nightmare. I can deal with couple days of mid to high 90s. But I’m not sure how people survive when it’s like thatvfor several months.

Houses prices are attractive, just not sure if it’s worth it.

Noodle..Not 100% true. A few of my friends from China received many racists remarks when this whole Covid outbreak started. One is currently not going outside until the pandemic is over because of the comments she received.

It’s better than a lot of places but it’s not entirely void of racism.

It’s horrible. Since our summer essentially starts in mid spring, and ends maybe by late October, I usually just avoid going outside on the weekends. It works out for the housing and if you can put up with getting inside a 100+ degree car before you turn on the AC.

Lol hiking in Texas == climbing a tiny hill. Austin is cheap but still pretty ugly place scenery wise. Compared to other cities in Texas it's alright though. Not much nature just giant parking lots and strip centers for miles. It feels even hotter since there isn't a lot of greenery and the heat just reflects back at you from the pavement.

  • Cons to think about before moving to Austin:
-traffic is worse than the Bay Area
    -population is higher than SF
    -no public transportation
    -mosquitoes
-allergies 10x worse in Austin than Bay Area, even if you never had allergies before
-weather sucks, hot and humid in summer

I play soccer when it is over 100F outside and come back to an ice cold watermelon in the fridge. Awesome workout and refreshement. But i’ve been living here for many years so the heat is not an issue
