I have applied online as well as reached out to one of the recruiters over linkedin but no response, not even a no. i have an onsite with YouTube, Lyft, and FB... all L/T/E5... but id love to place at Airbnb more than those, yet no response makes it hard. any idea what to do? tips? etc TC: irrelevant (moving across country to bay area) yoe: ~8 ios swe (swift)
Get a referral and they’ll give you a proper “no”. That’s what I did
😂
Are u a male or female?

The easiest way is to get an offer from one of your onsites with other places and talk to airbnb
DM me your linkedin and I can try. I know a team needing a senior iOS
Why do you want to work here?
1. I love the focus on user experience. Between the animations, bold colors, and cute/friendly UI, it’s a product that mimics the warmth that the hosts bring to their stays and experiences. 2. My wife and I, and all my friends always use Airbnb when we travel, no matter where we’re going. There’s nothing like it (not counting couch surfing as it’s too “budget” and doesn’t provide the experience of living like a local. And vrbo seems more catered towards island homes). Plus when we travel, it’s usually to experience new cultures and diversity, not just some random beach vacation to escape. 3. Going off that, we consider ourselves hosts to the n-th degree. We haven’t officially hosted on Airbnb (yet), but we always host an annual Halloween costume party, a paintball outing, and other annual events. We also have an open-door policy with any friends and family that want to stay the night at our place are welcome, no questions asked. 4. As an iOS and React dev, the open source frameworks like Lottie and React Dates make life great because a lot of the hard UX work when building apps and sites are all those little UI pieces all put together to make the app “feel” better subjectively. 5. I’m an entrepreneurial person, always referring to myself as “the idea guy” (I literally have a lightbulb tattoo on my wrist lol). I’ve started a few side businesses, sometimes alone and sometimes with others. And they’re always loads of fun with the impact on the customer always being a positive experience. So I know what it takes to bring an idea to reality, including all the full-stack tech in between (plus marketing, accounting, UX research, sales, automation, etc). 6. And last but not least, it’s a pre-ipo company with great growth potential. It’s no longer just homes, but experiences (and any future “product line”) offer ways for people to come together IRL, share, and enjoy life. It’s not a product about buying stuff you don’t need, nor a meaningless social network with fake personas. It’s about real human connection and that’s only going to get more impactful as the years roll on. I know I might not (yet) be L6 material like the other commentor mentioned, in the sense that I’ve not officially led cross team functions at the corporate setting... but I have done and experienced everything else in between (built and launched products, worked as a lead engineer, etc) The culture at Airbnb seems more of inclusion than exclusion, and we need more companies like that in this world. If you want to know my website or LinkedIn I can send it your way.
Damn
Company’s focus is on hiring L6+ engineers right now and diversity candidates. Since you are neither, maybe that’s why you are not getting any response. It can also depends on particular team you are applying for. For example I am hiring L5’s in my team but nothing related to iOS.
