  • In blind - take your current base + vested/Unvested stock + put a monetary value on your benefits (like health etc) + inflate it by a 100k.

Base salary + value of the stock that you're getting in hand this year + target bonus. Signing/relocation is stated separately.

Here’s what usually I do. Add up base, stocks and bonus. Multiply by 1.1x-1.5x. Post as TC with your Yoe. Sit back and get these two types of comments:

    a) “OMG I am so lowballed, I make like 66% of what you do and we’re on the same level. So fucked up, handing in my resignation tomorrow”

    b) “OMG you have that with how many yoe? I want to join like today, my current company offers not even close. Can I PM you for a referral?”

So now as people are quitting, I get to cash in on the referral bonuses. 💵 And these referrals show up with these insane salary requirements, so my company meets them halfway. And come end of year, to keep salaries not entirely out of band, I get a nice base & equity bump. I’ll take it 🤷🏼‍♀️

    TC $410K, Yoe 6.

That was always my question. Why do people compare real stock bonus vs their startup RSU with almost zero chances to get.
