Get into yoga. I was a “manly man” at one point until a new friend of mine absolutely schooled me with his flexibility and strength, and all he did for work outs was yoga. I have a Core Yoga membership. If you don’t want to go into the studio, they have an app with tons of videos, easy to do at home.
Get some light weights, like 10-15lbs. There’s a ton of mobility and range of motion exercises for shoulders, knees, hips, etc that you can find online.
Get a bike. A stationary bike is good, but I think having road bike and biking in real world conditions is better. Might depend on the air quality where you live though.
And diet is the last important part. I mostly do 80/20 as a rule, so weekends are usually the 20. But I eat whatever makes me feel good physically, not emotionally, and that was a hard thing to change. I’ve been listening to Hubermans podcast lately, which relates to that topic. Science based approach to understanding motivation, changing habits, etc.
Anyway, find something that works for you. The above works for me.
My weeks are usually
M,W - rock climbing
T,Th,Su - biking, yoga, bw exercise alternating muscle groups
Everyday - get outside, go on a walk, you’ll feel better
But again, find whatever honestly works for you.
Mid 40’s and I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in.
Here’s a plug, of which I get no benefits: get an app that works for you. I use FitBod and in 1 year, it has changed my life!!
I see my legs and core much stronger, which means I burn more fat and now I’m simply in much better shape.
And it also means no “slow days” where I don’t know what to do. I always do what the app tells me to do. A.l.w.a.y.s
