How do whiteboarding interviews work remotely?

I’m reading CTCI which talks a lot about whiteboard interviews, how you should write out your code on the board first, etc. Of course in the COVID era pretty much no one is doing in person interviews. How does this work online? Are you just expected to go straight to the code editor?

I have an iPad with an Apple Pencil. I know how to display the iPad screen contents on my Mac screen and screen share over Zoom, etc. Would it be reasonable/acceptable/encouraged to use that in my interviews?

Also everything CTCI says about not having to get done is not true anymore.

Meta and Google expect you to do 2 problems with optimal solution in an hour.

Can you clarify what you mean? I didn’t finish reading the book, or maybe I skipped over something. Does CTCI say you don’t need to get done with a problem in an interview? And are you saying that this is no longer true, and that Google/Meta expect 2 problems fully complete with an optimal solution?

Yeah. She says in multiple places that Google candidates can still get offers without finishing the problems, but that just isn’t true anymore. G and F expect you to get through multiple problems in a round now.

Companies will have apps for you to use, such as Coderpad.

Usually always code editor, and the "whiteboarding" is talking through your idea of a solution aloud and doing scratch work in the comments

Yes. Any decent interviewer would encourage that. But there are so many mindless robots out there that you are bound to run into one of them sooner or later. So wont hurt to practice a little on google drawing
