How do you answer recruiter “will you accept the offer if we give your expected numbers”

Hi all, trying to get some help for the negotiation skills here. I got the verbal offer for Google, FB, Lyft, Linkedin, Airbnb. All for l4 levels. For reasons like location, WLB I will probably choose Google finally. I believe I had a strong onsite feedback and given all other offers I’m shooting for higher range of Google L4. My Google recruiter is really helpful but she still needs competing offer numbers to help building a strong offer from comp team. I initially was using the strategy of “Do not say numbers first” but was being told “Let’s sync later when you have some other data points or expectations. And the very first Google initial offer was quite lowball although she emphasized it should be a starting point. Then I try to negotiate to recruiters saying the max numbers I know. Then being asked about the question “are you gonna accept it if we give you this offer”. By giving something like “I think very likely but I need to discuss with my family” some recruiters went ahead and help getting a number from the comp team and some others insist she is almost certainly that she will get such a number but she needs me to assume I already got that number and talk with my family. When I agree I’ll sign she will ask for the comp for numbers. I don’t want to lie about signing unless I really need to. But I do need numbers to get an offer I want. I may probably using some “deadlines” to push other recruiters to give a number quicker. Does anyone else also have any specific advices on how to answer those questions from recruiters? What do you do to make recruiters believe you want to join and give competing offers? YOE: 3.5 location: bay area position: swe Edit: per request this is the current google number of 2nd round without competing offers base:152 stock:360/4yr signon:25k

Yeah I did that to Google. They just need competing offers from other companies. I’m just struggling how to get the competing offers(when I know I won’t actually go to that company)

I did that with Google and Facebook. Google had the first chance, but didn't match. Facebook exceeded my number, so I rejected Google. I didn't tell either company what the other offered. A day or two later, Google recruiter and hiring manager both asked for a chance to compete, but I politely let them know it was too late and gently reminded that they had the first opportunity to lock it up.

Stock is very high, did you show any competitive data? How much did you bump from round 1 to 2?

Second round stock was 2x of the 1st round. I did give them names of my other offers for those.

Do you guys know what is the L6 base salary range at google? Levels shows something like 190 - 217k is it accurate?

Just tell them the damn number that will make you accept and tell them that you’ll accept if you get that. There must be a number like that. And if you don’t like the company, just keep them around to bump your other offers.

Get FB offer first, they don’t ask for expectations, and then give this number to other companies.
