I want to apply to Netflix / Airbnb / Lyft, but don’t have anyone in my network there. (I’m applying to others too, but have network there) What’s the best way to avoid the black hole that is applying online on their job portal?
Most people make pointless referral requests to strangers here. You don't need needs referral to get into these places. It helps but you can get in without one if you're a worthwhile employee.
How? This is a conclusory statement that it is possible. OP is asking how to do it.
It's obvious. Just apply or contact recruiters. If your Skillset is worth it you will move forward. Shouldn't needs your hand held by a stranger
Try going to tech meetups, many times recruiters and employees from these companies are there and it's a great networking opportunity.
I look at the resume of everyone that applies to my roles on the website. Most Netflix managers do. Jobs.netflix.com. Unless you have a strong working relation with someone here, a referral is basically an application through the website
When I joined Netflix, I applied online - I didn't know anyone here. Find a job that would be a good match for you (you have experience and you are excited about the role) and send in an application.
I’ve never had an “in” with any company and received many interviews and offers from FAMG (haven’t tried Netflix) that started with simply applying online. Bonus points if you’ve done extra curricular project work.
I’d consider myself pretty competitive, but have never heard back from anything I applied online. I’m not talking about a lesser %age, it’s 0. Hence find myself hesitant to go down this path. Also, most of my experience (7 out of 9) is outside US, so it feels like it gets discounted or ignored when I apply online.
