Recently I was doing an update of all my software when I realized I'm out of the loop on the latest and greatest shit. After stumbling around for a while I landed on a site called privacytools.io. Kinda opened my eyes a bit. Things I've changed (or in process of changing). 1.) using Firefox instead of Chrome. Got rid of adblock and ghostery and I'm now using decentraleyes, HTTPS everywhere, uBlock, and privacy badger is my extensions. 2.) deleted and created a new reddit account. 3.) using bleachbit instead of CCleaner. 4.) Got the tor browser (shit is really slow, don't know if this is practical). 5.) Got a protonmail.ch account (black Friday deal going on!!!). Will take a while to move from Gmail to protonmail though. Note protonmail is free but you only get 500meg and 150 messages a day. Pay to get more space/messages/features. 6.) I want to move to NextCloud and get rid of my onedrive/outlook account, but I'm not sure how to set this up yet. 7.) I now use startpage.com as my search engine (copies Google without the tracking... I think). 8.) Outside of windows 10, office (I get for free), and video games, all my tools/utils are open source. What do you guys do/use (or don't use)?
ProtonMail is free.
That is just future info. All your personal info including ssn etc are all available through various data breaches already. So you will need a completely new identity to start fresh
Still might be worth doing for the future like you said.
Move to Amazon rain forest.
You’ve got a great start. But your url was incorrect. Should be https://www.privacytools.io Also always use private browser tabs or incognito. Won’t save or share cookies. Delete FB account. Lookup Wired articles about how to become invisible.
I use “friends only” privacy setting sometimes instead of “public”, does that count? Also, I don’t sign every post on Blind. — Mark
Use duckduckgo
...what exactly is it that you’re doing that justifies covering your tracks this much?
Connect you with people and places you care about, of course!!!!
Youll have to ask an uber employee.
Nothing you did matters. If you are just starting now you’ve already left enough of a digital fingerprint to permanently be identified in the future. Focus instead on influencing algorithms through the data you generate from now on. The one pixel attack whitepapers are a good starting point for inspiration. Ex: https://arxiv.org/abs/1710.08864
