Hey there. I work for FedEx services and I recently realized that since the company is also part of the airlines industry, employees get a discount while traveling. Can someone please explain how to get a discount while traveling or if anyone has used it before?
There's also the "stand-by" option while traveling, which I know nothing about. Can someone please explain how this works ?
Thanks!

One of the best perks at FedEx! We get to pay only tax price for the flight which is around 40-50$ anywhere in US.
I tried to travel from USA to India for 150$ one way. (Lucky enough to get stand by seat).
But the TC at FedEx is no where near the tech companies right now.

You can make it work, esp if you know someone at an airline who can tell you if there’s space on a particular flight (or some airlines’ web sites are helpful).

However, there are quirks to know, like avoiding connecting through a hub where airline employees will also be flying standby - you are the lowest of the low for priority when open seats are limited and might get stuck!

Are there specific hubs that are good to avoid? Or how to find out where airlines also fly standby?

I want to say I’ve heard you can get stuck in Dallas because it’s an American Airlines hub. I’ve had an issue once getting out of ohare on united but been really lucky with jfk and JetBlue

Just a Possible dynamic to consider as a worst case scenario. Best to fly direct and look for lanes with multiple flights or check capacity by trying to buy a ticket and seeing how many seats are left close to the flight

It’s good if you don’t have many connection flights and no check in baggage as it’s a standby ticket and most times you won’t know which flight you get
