My MSFT offer says that my bonus range is 20% at max. Does it mean that if I do not make any serious makes and demonstrate an effective and impactful work ethics I should expect a bonus at 20% of my salary? Thanks !
10% will be the “meets expectations” bonus. 20% is if you really knock it out of the park. There’s usually one senior engineer on the team who the manager leans on extremely heavily and it’s usually this guy that pulls max rewards. In other words it’s rare.
Thanks!
This. My partner was at Microsoft for 15 years and got a top-of-the-range bonus maybe twice.
Most get 10-12%. Full 20% will be 1 in 50.
You are not going to get the max rewards. The way the rewards budget is set up, if someone gets the full rewards bonus(20%) someone else on the team gets 0 rewards. Managers typically want to avoid doing that. You will most likely get 10% rewards. Enjoy your 🥜
Sad
Yeah that 20% is a recruiter trick to get you to accept the offer.
Any Base pay bonus?
A whopping 1-2%
Whopper 😂
Is this bonus on the base pay? So if you get 150k you'll get a bonus between 0 and 30k ?
I believe this is the only possibility. Otherwise what?
Apparently it's based on their cycle, July-June, and you get a bonus on what you made in that period or something

If you meet expectations then you get half of that
So what do I need to do if I want the 20%?
Person below expanded on it, but you need to be the best among your peers to get top rewards.
