If you have been working a highly stressful job such as at Amazon how does it feel to switch to a company that is more relaxed. once you work at Amazon does any company you switch to make you feel less stressed?
I used to work in Amazon for 2 years. Not feeling stressed at all (except got paged 60 times a week)
I worked there for over 5 years. I didnโt really feel overly stressed while I worked there but moving to a new company just swapped one kind of stress for another. At amazon/AWS the stress was related to there being more things that you wanted to get done than there was time for. Balancing new features vs improving ops. Since moving away from amazon the stress is more related to having very poorly defined processes. I didnโt realize how good the internal services were until I left. While some processes are overly emphasized there like CMs and 2P, itโs honestly better than no process. Trying to navigate which of the 5 different deployment processes this software uses, not having an API to plug into, is just stupid. Those kinds of things are just available by default at amazon and incredibly frustrating when youโre not at amazon. Oh and the logging. I miss the spirit of log everything, no matter the cost.

My friend at Amazon in Seattle works 9-5 with a 30 min break for eating bananas at mid day. Doesn't seem too stressful for him.
Lol 30min break for eating bananas ๐๐๐ that's so funny
