I'm not a developer and cannot write proper code. Kind of operations but not exactly devops. Currently doing some lame management kind of work at Oracle and no skills are being added. I'm putting good amount of effort in learning Azure and devops concepts. I will also start leetcode in a month. Is it easy to crack Microsoft interview without actual Azure experience. Can someone give some direction in preparation even if it is not in Azure
you’re not a dev and can’t write proper code and are going to leetcode? good luck
Just my .02 but you at least have a job. Assuming you're in good standing, take advantage of the present and use it to learn as much as you can while you're at Oracle. There are tons of things to learn. Programming, design, architecture.. etc etc. If you really want to leave, don't start interviewing around until you feel confident you can make it through another interview. From the sounds of it, you're nowhere near prepared.
Definitely true, I'm nowhere near interviewing. I'm planning to give it atleast 6 months prep before applying
I would recommend starting something like CTCI first, learn the techniques she mentions there and build your knowledge topic wise. Two reasons - good chance that we might ask you a problem directly from that book and LC has a LOTT of test cases that you’d need to pass to submit a solution successfully. The whole thing may seem a bit daunting if the latter is where you start from.
Thanks. That helps. Will give the book a try
You should expect to spend at least a year preparing for that kind of job change with extensive coding and studying. There’s so much more to know than just the algorithms and data structures that leetcode focuses on.
Leetcode is a good place to get a shot of reality. Stick with it, make sure crack open textbooks (math compsci) to understand the underlying concepts. Some good YouTube videos as well.
Do you have an idea on what position/title you want to land at azure?
Devops, SRE
like do we actually have legit SREs? Sounds like they just bait people in and do the worst kinds of stuffs like WTT.
