How flexible are Amazon Levels on Job Posts?

I’m eyeing a job at amazon and with recon internally its targeted at L6 (non tech). Im seeking an L7. at Google we have target ranges like 5-6 or 6-7 etc. Is it similar at Amazon? or are they rigid with levels? Im contemplating whether to go after the 6 or wait for a 7 posting. thanks! TC: 250k LOE: 13

They’re flexible downwards!

It doesn’t hurt to apply, but straight to clarify from the beginning.

Yeah the manager is able to flex the level down but not up. If up, they have to go through the chain again for approval.

Thanks for the quick responses. I’ll sit tight and wait for a 7 then :)

Usually uplevel would be justified with increased scope which doenst happen often in a role, but possible.

Uplevel happens after interview performance ! Let the recruiter know you want to be considered for L7! Many times special candidates have been up leveled automatically post interview

Dont lie... most are automatically downleveled lol

They are flexible based on my own personal experience. I applied for a L6 position. When the recruiter called me, I was very clear that I want to be considered for L7. They said L6 interview can be scheduled faster and if you do well, we can have a follow up for L7. I went for the L6 interview. They said you did well and they scheduled a follow up for the higher level. I got a L7 offer. The key is for you to be clear and firm about what want.

Point is loop must be up leveled ahead of time If you go into an l6 loop and have l6 interviewed - you’ll at least need another loop to make it up

Amazon htrtfxth Jan 11, 2020

This is correct. For L7, all interviewers in the loop have to be L7 or higher.

How are you making 250 at google also don’t even non-tech L7s make like twice that at Amazon
