How good do you need to be to be considered for h1b?
I had interviews at Google and Facebook in Europe, but always wanted to go to states. The problem is getting visa of course. I receive rejections from pretty much all US companies after sending CV, which usually requires to specify if I will need a visa sponsorship. At the same time I see people getting h1b every year. How exceptional does one need to be for faang and others to consider you?
They most likely will not sponsor h1b if you are outside of the country
Most companies don't want to hire someone who isn't already local. Also, sorry to ask, but are you sending a resume or a CV? Because no one in the US uses CVs and those usually get thrown out right away
If you are a citizen. And did not go to any university, but still, have some coding hands from dev Bootcamp. You get calls easily. So for outsiders, the major blocker is visa: hiring a firm, pay them, wait on hiring, then roll out an offer, then wait for h1b approval, then wait for them to onboard, etc. For most companies, it is worth the time, money and effort only if they had a hard time finding someone in the US for a year. Keep applying in all the companies in all 50 states of the US. Overseas hiring is mostly luck if you need a sponsoring visa.
How about L1 route? If you get offers from FAANG in Europe isn't it easier to do a year or so and transfer? Shouldn't take to long to get GC afterwards if you're from EU to get freedom to move afterwards. I believe some US based companies actually interview for US but offer L1 route over H1B as there there is no lottery involved - although no idea how hard it would be to get interview for that route. Or are they reluctant to relocate on L1?
The best route is to get hired locally in Europe and later look into relocating through the company.

Some people come to the US to get a masters or phd and once here get internships and then offers from tech companies.
U don't need to be exceptional to get the visa. U only need to be good enough for the faang to want u. Then they can make the visa happen quite easily
