How highly regarded is Salesforce mts viewed on a resume?
I might soon be starting as a junior frontend developer at Salesforce, (amts). This is insane to me as I'm still pretty new to programming and only had slight familiarity with Salesforce. A coworker (who used to be a pm at YouTube) where I am now at a small no-name startup told me that I'm now In the "six figure leagues" and having Salesforce on my LinkedIn/resume is "like having Twitter or Uber" on there, and means I won't have to beg for work again unless I prove to be completely screw up or get let go before a year's up. Is Salesforce really that high up there in the software engineering job market?

As someone who has been at Salesforce for a couple of years now, I’ve definitely noticed an uptick in the number of fishing emails I get from recruiters now that SF is on my resume. I think you’ll find that after putting in a couple of years at SFDC and especially if you are a high producer and get promoted, that finding your next position will be a lot easier. With that said, I don’t think that SFDC carries quite as much weight as some of the FANG jobs, particularly within the tech community. Salesforce’s core products aren’t particularly innovative so really the experience you get is more about how to do ordinary things at a massive scale. Still, unless the startup you’re at is giving you equity then you’d be a fool to pass up a chance to work for us. We have a solid benefit plan that can only come from a company our size, plenty of growth opportunities and great work life balance. It’s really a great place to work. A lot of it depends on what cloud you are in though, so if you have choices there then don’t take that lightly. There are shitty teams at every company. Hope you don’t get recruited for one
Thanks for the overview that's the kind of answer I was seeking, especially your view that SFDC does not carry as much weight as FANG. How are these things measured? Are there unofficial tiers these companies become associated with? What tier would SFDC be?
It is the same with ivy league schools...people assume that where there is a high bar for acceptance, the people accepted are good. Why not get someone from FANG b/c surely they have gone through a tough selection process. A lot of that is perception too. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter where you go to school or where you work, it what you do when there. At Salesforce, due to less tough selection process, you'll need to prove that more than if you were at FANG, but not as much if you were at some sort of failing startup.

Yes, for sure. Getting interviews scheduled from FANG or any top companies is easy with Salesforce on your resume. it is consistently on the list of top 5 best places to work. So it would be an advantage on your resume.
