Need to know about Bloomberg. Please help.
I don't have an offer. I am just inquiring. Planning to apply.
Salary is decent. Work culture is pretty good. Lots of good teams and great projects in progress. Easy to switch around teams if you land up on a bad one.
Once you quit though you are never allowed to return
They changed that rule. You can come back to BBG now after quitting
Bloomberg in NJ has good work culture and free food !
The ex-Bloomberg folks I know all basically say "meh" when I ask them about the company... but might be sampling bias
It is meh. People stay for one of good TC despite low expectations, they happen to be on one of the rare good teams with challenging but not overly demanding work, or because they can’t leave for immigration or poor interview performance reasons.
Ex bbg and culture for me was great. Everyone is super friendly and pretty happy to go to work. It's not the most exciting place but many stay for life Work life balance is among the best out there
Where are you at now?
Good comp (not FAANG level). good working environment. Some of the tech leaves something to be desired. (Comdb2, BAS, Terminal). No stock (cause Mike own’s most of it) Lots of learning opportunities through training and meetups. General desire to move some of tech forward from the top, even if individual departments may be slow in Adoption. Much better then the last company I worked for (smaller company in trading environment).
Environment like most places is highly department dependent. Some areas have ridiculously high rates of turnover for instance which is obviously telling.
I’m also considering. Would join BBG open a door to finance world? I’m always worried about the potential career crisis when SDE gets old (though I’m still young). Maybe finance is safer field for older guys because it requires domain knowledge.
Finance jobs are being decimated, year in year out, due to technology. Stick with tech. And no working at BBG isn’t going to lead a career in Banking, trading or Money Management. It may lead to a career in adminining systems at Financial Organization.
Which location ? And TC ?
What’s TC?
Total Compensation. Perhaps Blind's most beloved acronym.
