I just got an offer to join Facebook London. How is the WLB there including the long commute? I know they pay less in London than Seattle but how much less? Is it enough with non working spouse and a small kid? Some insides would be very helpful.
You need to consider which neighborhood in London you want live. Rent in London is beyond crazy. Need to be a multimillionaire to afford buying a property.
Thanks. Any suggestions for area? I need a good school for the kid. I assume everyone commutes long so that is secondary
Avoid East London. I've been there once, because of cheap hotel. It's all run down. Maybe this can help you narrow your search https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2014/01/21/tale-four-cities
First rule of blind. TC/yoe Slim chance you’ll get relevant replies otherwise
Shit city, pick somewhere else

Will share the TC. I have verbal confirmation as of now. I am not asking for specific amounts. I am interested in the WLB and how good the city is in general.

Thank you for this.
Did you interview in USA for a role in London ?
Went to London for on-site interview. Some rounds happened via teleconf.
How did you get the interview call. Do they consider to fly in people from USA for interview??
Most of the activity happens in MPK, the vast majority of projects are in MPK, technical leadership is in MPK, so LON sees very limited of that and is a very regional office because of that. There are two kinds of projects in LON F: shared with MPK and local only. For the first kind be prepared with meetings during evenings (sometimes even for after 10 pm meetings). The second kind is better, but they are usually not challenging.
