Recently got contacted by HR for SDE role interview, not sure if Oracle has any leverage in cloud domain. Any advice welcome. yoe: 5 tc: 170
It's very unstable, don't take the offer if you get it
Joined Oracle an year ago and every quarter it’s demotivating to see the layoffs. Yes I am waiting for my first vest before getting out. Not a good place to build a career. Skip it and u will thank me
Reductions only occur at Oracle when your performance rating is 1 or 2.
There is no perfect company out there but I like Oracle engineering team. I've bee here for almost 5 years and we currently have lots of open opportunities and yes, there are pros and cons but i still like being here and recommend it. It's like any other company out there like Facebook, Amazon, Google and MS. I've seen people who love working for those companies and others who hate them. The same applies to Oracle so you gotta try to see if that's a good fit for you or not. You need to analyze that opportunity, salary and challenges and compare to your current job. Hope this helps.
Is Oracle engineering team within Oracle cloud team? We are specifically talking about the Oracle cloud team in Seattle
It's a single engineering org in Oracle but Oracle Cloud has its own engineering groups and developers for its products in Engineering. Of course all PM groups interact in some way or another.
It's a layoff fest here. Avoid for sure
Frequent random layoffs. No clear communication nor future strategy. It’s so depressing out here. Call me a non believer but I don’t see light at the end of the tunnel.
Listen to these folks. Layoffs are a reality of life
Added to the lay-off crap, skill set becomes outdated after few years rendering in a useless state. Assuming you survive layoffs
Oracle dropped out of the race before cloud became a thing. Larry regrets.
