It's a fantastic place depending on what you're goals are. The below assumes that you want to move to APAC already
Great for:
- Probably the best place in for career opportunities, especially in tech and finance - it's usually regional HQ.
- Great place for expats with good communities and accommodation options (probably won't want to leave)
- Generally attracts folks in a later stage in life in relationships or are parents, good amount of help for kids and good education options
- Good proximity to so many places in the region for traveling
- Really easy in terms of transition, most folks feel like there's minimal culture shock
Not ideal for:
- Might not be spot on, could just have been my own experiences but generally less fun for a single person. Hong Kong was better for that. Hence the life stage comment above.
- No seasons, just always humid and hot (but also lots of AC)
- The country itself is pretty small so some people might get bored (though restaurant scene is lit and like above, easy travel point)
- I did find culturally leaned towards "black and white" mindset, things are either right or wrong and less up for negotiation both in day to day life and at work
Hope that's a little helpful!
You’ll be bored of it in 6 months. If you are white who can talk well, your career and personal life will be taken care.
Why do you feel bored? What about traveling to other countries and having that easy access?
You can’t travel all the time and the city/country is ~1/2 of LA in size.
