Hi all! Im curious about how the culture is at yelp. I’m thinking about making a career change and am approaching the end of the process with yelp. One if my concerns is that Ive heard some rumors that the company is stagnating a little or finding it hard to monetize. Do you feel Yelp is a good company to be at for the long term? Are there intersting projects being worked on? How are things there in genera (compensation, work/life balance, morale, intersting work, etc....)? I’d really appreciate your thoughts!
I think it's a downgrade from Apple.
Only the best workplace ever. Just around the one year mark and enjoying the fun culture and fun people. Have total 3yoe and age ~25 for context. Great place if you can enjoy the culture and the people without getting worked up about below market pay. Liking the work quality too.
What level are you at?
It's a place where people get away with working 4 hours a week
Good stepping stone early in your career
Could I ask you to elaborate on that a little? I currently have a job I enjoy a lot at Apple, but I’m considering moving to SF and finding a new job there. So ideally I’m looking for a place that’s reasonably stable.
I didn’t notice where you worked. I’m thinking yelp is better in terms of new grad or intern. If you have a job at Apple I don’t think you should go for yelp. It’s not going to be as stable and bigger unknown. Why not transfer to Cupertino?
