Should we be faithful to companies/team/mgr?
Posting for a friend coming onsite to SoCal. He is moving with his wife and will be staying in Anaheim for sometime. Open to suggestions. Is there any public transit in that area ?
What company?
Amazon
SWE?
It’s about 18 miles commute one way and of which about 15 will be on I5 freeway so it will be about 45-55 mins. It would be a punishment to do that everyday in peak traffic. I wouldn’t suggest it. Somewhere between Irvine and Huntington Beach would be more doable.
Why not live in Irvine? You can find hotels and Airbnbs 5 mins from amazon office. The commute to Anaheim can be an hour during rush hour, no public transportation unless you want to spend 2hrs each way
Irvine is expensive for him and he wants to start living in a cheaper area.
Then try lake forest commute is way better and cheaper too
Thanks everyone for your suggestions
Wouldn’t recommend Anaheim. Check out Tustin, it’s cheaper than Irvine and close by. Also agree that Lake Forest is another great alternative
Is it possible to find 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment under $1600 per month in Tustin , Costa Mesa, lake forest and other similar areas ?
I lived in Orange (right next to Anaheim) and commuted to Irvine for many many years. It’s definitely doable, but fair warning Traffic is no fun. 55 south or 405 south will be about 30-45 minutes on average. Sometimes better sometimes worse.
Do not depend on public transportation in so cal; it will be half day travel. Either rent or Uber. In rush hours, 55 north and south both are busy, so 45min minimum.
