Recently received recruiting email on its cloud platform. Wondering how the salary / compensation compare to FLAGs, or Facebook in particular.
Really good apparently, or at least for the founder. The founder I hear also drives an Audi R8.
What's FLAG, besides a piece of cloth used as a banner?
Facebook, LinkedIn, Amazon, Google? Mildly eclectic choice of companies tbh.
First time I've heard LinkedIn instead of Microsoft or Apple
Palo Alto Networks is an enterprise network security company; FLAG is not. As such the pay scales and talent pool they recruit from are different. PANW pays well but not as good as google or Facebook. It also lacks the perks - no free food, no amazingly huge 401k match, a culture that is not super work from home friendly, etc. don't get me wrong, it's a great place to work but I would never put it in the same camp as google, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
With regard to pay and talent pool this isn't true, at least not anymore. Palo Alto's pay scale is highly competitive with FAANG/FLAG, and the talent pool has overlap with FAANG due to the cloud push.
I don't think the culture is great - as with many enterprise shops there is are a lot of political nuances to every decision making process and the environment is at times very caustic as most decisions are done top down
I disagree with the 'caustic environment' comment. I've worked for many companies over the years in the valley and PAN doesn't come close to that. Like most companies, it has its particular issues but, after being with the company for a year and a half, it's still one of the best places to work in Silicon Valley
