How is to work as Principal Engineer? How is the work culture in Walmart Labs?
Depends on the team. Can you share more details?
It's in Merchant Technology.
Lots of folks at SWE and Staff level Engg, and lots of politics!
TC?
I am waiting on the those details.
Cool, good luck!
Principal at Walmart is X6 level. You should expect a TC close to 350K, with base ~200K. You will spend quite some time at this level, as promotion to the next level, which is either director of engineering or distinguished engineer, takes around 4 to 6 years. You and your work will get lot of exposure. At this level, you will have the Independence to analyze the business and identify problems and propose new initiatives and solutions, which means you can pretty much work on what you like provided it's close to the business and the area of focus of your team. Lastly, work life balance at WalmartLabs is incredibly good in general. Sharpen your ping pong, foosball and pool skills B4 joining.
Thank you. This helps a lot 😊.
And that's exactly why Walmart is not fast enough to push changes 😂
Btw.. TC is close to $300K, not $350k
How's that ?
Year 1 $200 + 25% + 90/4; Year 2 $200 + 25% + 90/4 + 90/4 and so on
Congrats on the new role. How was the interview ? What kind of leetcode questions we can expect ? Any guidance on preparation ?
I had about 10 rounds of interview. The first round is regular coding round (DS and Algo). 5 rounds of Technical discussions with people from various background (from engr manager to DE). Questions are mostly on designing different systems. 3 rounds of manager discussion (just about your projects and expectations) and finally HR. It took 3 days to complete all these rounds of interviews.
Wow that’s insane, 10 rounds I never heard of. The first regular coding round was phone screen interview or face to face ?
