How is work life at Netflix?

I am sure we can't expect work life balance with loads of money that they pour. But question is how bad it is in terms of work life imbalance? Also I heard they don't work as teams, instead work as individual or pair of individuals, how true is that and does that mean they don't have lead or principle sort of roles, instead everybody is expected to code like in startup?

Best WLB of any FAANG. Where do you think the phrase "Netflix and chill" came from? It's for all the engineers just cruising working 15 hour weeks.

Google is definitely better in FAANG. Also I heard some teams of Apple aren't that bad, manageable. That's what I heard and read on blind too..

Heard it’s great wlb actually. Family oriented, so people make sure their shit works

How do they manage that? Agile or no Agile? Smarter QA?

Airbnb kYFK02 Sep 10, 2019

Lol. Your post is either a smart troll or shows how idiotic the industry has become. The Netflix model is only hire senior engineers, pay top of market, and give them lots of responsibility and very few guard rails

Work life choose one and only one

My time is 930 to 520, 1hr lunch, and 4 hrs extra out of working hours per week due to pure personal passion. So it's about 40hrs in total per week. Definitely not rest&vest though.

I am assuming depends on teams as well.. Are there any 3 top specific teams that they drain out employees?

Not sure, I am relatively new here. I can only say the my whole half floor I usually pass by have similar observed hours.

Read the culture memo and think about what “highly effective” means. Hint: it’s not about long hours.
