I have an offer to go there and start as an entry level SDE1... Also while I'm here, what is the typical way you get a verbal offer? My recruiter just said I had an offer and that was basically all she said before she wanted compensation numbers from me. Is it normal for recruiters to do that or do some at least give you a first TC offer range?
Don't give TC range, unless you basically have a number under which you won't even consider them (ex. due to a competing offer). Giving up information freely is the worst thing to do.
Ok. I haven't really found a source that says how to handle this part. Do I just ask for their numbers up front?
Interested. How would you put this then?
Depends on your team but Amazon generally likes to burn folks out. Regarding compensation, you can look at levels.fyi if you want to formulate your response as a decision tree. FYI Amazon will match competitor offers.
I had the same process from my AWS recruiter. Maybe it's an Amazon thing. They do let you counter offer. I hope you said a high number when your recruiter asked you. If they match the number you gave, then there is not much to negotiate, unless you have a better offer.
Haha yeah. I told them I would get back with my initial number in about a week. I have until Friday..
@CoryP what will you be doing as SDE on this team? Can DM if you like
I just got a verbal offer first too... Still waiting on the figures
@randUser what will you be doing?
