I was recently promoted to Senior Software Engineer and I feel like it may have been a little early. Next step for me would probably be 5 years out honestly. Does spending 5+ years at senior level look bad in the long run? Or does the promotion cadence naturally slow down once you hit a certain level?
This could be your last level. It’s not up or out in product companies. Some people rich the peak of their abilities early and never get better. You don’t know whether you’re one of these folks It’s misconception to think that you should keep moving up. In fact at some point you’ll start going down due to age related deterioration of productivity
PEAK TC
The more you learn at senior levels, easier it would be for you to survive at higher levels. 5 years looks normal not long.
