Hey y'all, I'm asking for a non blind, non faang friend in tech whose h1b expires in about 18 month or so. At what point will companies deny him an offer because the visa is too close to expiring? I think he's shooting for Google and scheduling interviews now, but he's concerned about wether he might be denied due to the visa. He's from UK if that matters. More info: he is 18 month from 6 year limit on h1b and said he hasn't applied for the green card, so I guess no i140. TC: 275
Doesn't matter. His new employer will have to submit a new petition anyway and that new petition will come with an automatic extension. This provided he has an approved I140.
He needs an approved i140. Many companies don’t take the risk otherwise.

Is he about to hit 6 year limit (18 months from hitting that limit) and is he without approved I-140?
Yeah he is 18 month from the 6 year limit. I had to Google what i140 is, but he did mention he hadn't applied for a green card, so I guess no.
He should hurry up. Many companies would consider him at this point but once he enters 6th year, things could get tricky.
