The first two lost interest and weaned on their own.
My youngest had absolutely insurmountable latch issues, to the point that she needed special support even for bottle feeding. She ended up on formula pretty quickly because pumping blows.
All that to say, sometimes it just won’t work out. Try not to beat yourself up about it no matter how it shakes out. (Of course, that’s hard and I beat myself up plenty, but you shouldn’t 🙃)
If you and baby are happy nursing past the toddler stage, you do you. If either of you quits “early”, so be it.
