How long should it take for Microsoft to send offer letter?

I interviewed with Microsoft and on same day I was told that I have cleared it. Next week my comp was communicated over email and I accepted it after negotiation. Recruiter started BGV and three weeks have passed so far. Upon enquiry, recruiter told me bgv is done and I would get offer letter in one to two days once it is audit approved. Will it take so much time at Microsoft to generate offer letter? What is audit approval?

Normally won’t one get the offer letter first? I thought negotiation is done after receiving the first offer letter

I got a congratulations mail with offer breakdown in table format from recruiters company mail. Negotiations happened on phone and documented in mail. I didn't the usual offer letter with starting date which we usually sign when joining the company. Is this normal?

No, usually most companies give a verbal offer first and the formal written one comes in a week or so later once background checks are cleared.

Which group/team is it for? If u have a way to reach manager, check with him/her.

If you get email with salary breakup from HR official email. I think that is good enough. Detailed offer letter with all clauses takes time. If I remember correctly it taken 3 week in my case.

Yeah this having breakdown in email and receiving formal letter much latter is common. All negotiation is done before that. A staffing manager usually won't like to go back and forth on a offer letter. So they only generate that once after numbers are agreed upon. However actual offer can be issued b4 background check completes and it says so that this is subjected to successful check.

So did you get the letter finally????
