How long till big tech layoff?

Majority of layoffs in great recession hit in 2009 although it started in late 2007 or early 2008. I recall MSFT laying off thousands even though q1 2009 they made billions dollars in profit 😂😂 That was under Ballmer maybe Satya will be even more ruthless? Intel had a pretty big layoff too. Adobe did too... How long till companies do a cleanup purge just to play victim of financial crisis? #economy #crash #bigtech TC:210K

Don’t see it happening as long as the fundamentals for your org are good. So for Netflix sure maybe but for companies like Amazon or Microsoft that have solid fundamentals probably not

Idk what went through ballmers head in 09 but company was doing great. I think it was cautionary step more than anything. Engineers were hit in first 2 rounds too...

Boeing did the same thing more recently I think it’s a common strategic misstep by older generation management

GCP support engineers are useless

That was part of cost cutting that had been going on for a while (ramping up hiring in LCOL like Poland, India, and Canada). Had nothing to do with the upcoming recession.

Depends on what the fed ends up doing w/ rate hikes and if a recession is triggered. Deleveraging is healthy and DOW could settle back down to ~32K as we're still in lala-land (see TSLA market cap etc...). Mortgage companies are going to be the first to announce layoffs - obviously avoid Better etc...

Mortgage has always been cyclical.

Funds for startups might get curtailed leading to layoffs at such companies.
