Yes sorry fb

Facebook jIhC24 Nov 9, 2019

This is very hard to say, since quite a few people will start interviewing when they feel they are not performing well and have a pip risk.

Facebook jIhC24 Nov 9, 2019

I know people who definitely would be piped if they chose not to join other companies.

Facebook easzss Nov 9, 2019

You also have a bunch of non-FB people voting so useless poll. The actual pip rate is very low.

Facebook cochococho Nov 9, 2019

Yeah Im sure only FB eng employees are voting

Facebook public2 Nov 9, 2019

What's with the obsession around pips?

Facebook gurntyBOI Nov 9, 2019

People who didn’t make it want to feel good about it.

Facebook public2 Nov 9, 2019

Ok maybe but again why the focus on pip? You can "not make it" regardless of a pip or not.

Amazon wth? Nov 9, 2019

Does FB blacklist if someone leaves while on PIP?

Glassdoor lemm Nov 9, 2019

🙄 maybe in Amazon

Amazon wth? Nov 9, 2019

Did you ever work at Amazon or follow any discussion? A is the least forgiving and king of kicking out low performers ... forever. That’s why I was trying to know if other companies are these strict?

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 Nov 9, 2019

OP has a lucrative offer to join FB at an E5. Go ahead and join they’ll put you straight into PIP

Facebook easzss Nov 9, 2019

you're acting very very weird today. https://www.teamblind.com/article/reneging-facebook-due-to-WLB-fears---will-i-get-blacklisted-BHdJe3XE very doubtful you actually got an offer

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 Nov 9, 2019

It was a joke...

Amazon Lollol Nov 9, 2019

I pip you Facebook. Get the fuck outta my life.

Facebook mturtle Nov 9, 2019

It's no where near 15%. People voting are trolling or stupid.

Facebook MYKt61 Nov 10, 2019

Myth 1: there are a lot of PIPs at FB. Probably false. Myth 2: if FB has industry average PIPs and retention, then it must be great. False. FB is a very large standard deviation place in terms of managers, projects/goals, teams/coworkers/orgs etc. YMMV is extremely true :) Although it's true a lot of people leave after year 1, I think it's more typical, that people are "hopeful or indifferent" and try to survive/suffer longer and earn out their initial RSUs before moving (or be "forced to move), although with the stock stuck in a trading range for the last 2 years, that's a lot less true than in the past.

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 Nov 10, 2019

Tell us more about the people who are forced out? Presumably you mean managed out prior to pip to keep pip rates low. Also tell us about the people who are would like to leave but are riding it out due to the large stock vests

Google Venezia Nov 10, 2019

The most extreme options always consist of the most trolls. That's why the # votes decreases from the "5 to 10%" to "10 to 15%" then rises again for "> 15%" (anti-FB haters). There is an unusual bump in "1 to 3%" as well (kool-aid drinkers and people who think it would be funny to choose the lowest number). The real mode is probably "5 to 10%", and that's the closest to the 2x Google's multiplier I've heard cited by a number of FB employees. That covers the median of the poll's distribution, which is around 10%, and the median is robust to outliers (unlike the average).

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 Nov 10, 2019

A 10% pip rate is pretty high. What % are being actively managed out prior to pip? How many leave fearing a pip? Maybe 10% are in pip with another 10% being managed out. That’s a 20% danger rate. Pretty high probably 2x most companies. if 20% are in danger then the next 20% are under constant fear of dipping into that category.

Google Venezia Nov 10, 2019

The problem of not knowing exactly where you lie does create an "efficient" organizational culture of fear. Without it, the 20% ranking workers would slack until they reach 11%, or some safe threshold.
